Ole Bettum

Ole is a co-founder of Bestport Ventures LLP and has extensive experience of venture capital investing
in the UK.
He began his finance career with Price Waterhouse and joined Close
Brothers Group PLC in 1996 to help launch their smaller venture capital
investment arm. Between 1996 and 2005 he was instrumental in building
Close Venture Management ("CVM") from an early stage to
a highly successful venture investment business with some £130
million under management. During his time with CVM, Ole led investments
totalling £47m in 22 ventures, including success stories like
Careforce Group PLC, Dolphin Nurseries Ltd, Cassum Technologies Ltd, Intercare Group, and Grosvenor Health Ltd.
Ole holds a Bsc (Econ) from the London School of Economics and an
MBA from Columbia Business School.
James Stoddart

James is a co-founder of Bestport Ventures LLP and has extensive experience of investing in venture capital
opportunities in the UK.
He began his career working in corporate finance for Oppenheimer
in New York followed by a three year role in corporate strategy for
Hutchison Whampoa in Hong Kong. He then spent six years engaged in
corporate turnaround work for Postern before establishing Bamboo
Investments PLC, raising £16 million to make early
stage, high growth venture investments predominantly in the technology
sector. James has backed a
number of successful businesses including Active Hotels Ltd, Cassium
Technologies Ltd, Bango.net and Dr Foster Ltd.
James holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Boston
University.
Cathy Kinnear

Cathy Kinnear works as Head of Finance and Compliance. Cathy is
a Chartered Accountant, having qualified with Coopers & Lybrand,
London (now PriceWaterhouseCoopers). Cathy’s experience is
extensive and involves several years as head of finance for RIT Capital
Partners plc and St James’s Place Capital plc. More latterly
she was Group Finance Director at Johnson Fry Holdings PLC whereupon
she was instrumental in the reorganization of the Group and the subsequent
sale to Legg Mason Inc.
Alexander Simmons

Alex joined Bestport Ventures in 2010. Alex is a graduate of Oxford University, where he read Mathematics and Statistics. Previously he was on the management programme at Aldi stores in the UK. While at Oxford, Alex rowed in the Lightweight Boat Race against Cambridge.
